Candle Care Guide
At Smoak, each candle is crafted to bring a sense of calm, warmth, and quiet luxury into your space. With the right care, you can enjoy a longer-lasting, cleaner, and more consistent burn.
The First Burn Matters
Allow your candle to burn until the wax melts evenly across the entire surface. This usually takes 2–3 hours.
This step prevents tunnelling and ensures an even burn for the life of your candle.
Trim the Wick
Before each burn, trim the wick to about 5mm.
A shorter wick helps maintain a steady flame, reduces soot, and keeps your candle burning beautifully.
Burn Time
Avoid burning your candle for more than 3–4 hours at a time.
This preserves the fragrance quality and prevents overheating of the container.
Keep It Clean
Ensure the wax pool is free from wick trimmings, matches, or debris.
A clean candle burns more efficiently and safely.
Safety First
Always place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
Keep away from drafts, children, and pets.
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
When to Stop
Discontinue use when about 1–1.5 cm of wax remains at the bottom.
This helps prevent overheating and protects your surfaces.
A Final Note
Candle care is part of the ritual. Taking a moment to prepare your candle enhances not just its performance, but the experience it creates—slow, intentional, and beautifully understated.
